The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is an exam that evaluates a student’s academic readiness for undergraduate programs abroad. It is a globally recognized standard exam. It examines essential skills of students for mathematics, evidence-based reading, and writing. SAT scores serve a great response in admission decisions for international universities, mostly in the USA (United States). The SAT exam sets a getaway for scholarships and merit-based recognitions in international studies.

Exam Structure

The SAT exam is divided into two primary sections:

1. Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)

• Reading Test: The reading test contains knowledge and analysis of passages from literature, history, social sciences, and natural sciences. The reading test contains 52 questions and has to be finished under 65 minutes.
• Writing and Language Test: Writing and Language Test contains 44 questions that test grammar, sentence structure, and editing skills to improve written content. It must be completed under 35 minutes.

2. Mathematics

• Mathematics includes algebra, geometry, data analysis, and advanced math. The test contains 2 sets of questions, i.e., 20 questions without calculator, which are to be completed under 25 minutes, and 38 questions with calculator must be completed under 55 minutes.

The exam duration of the SAT is 3 hours and 10 minutes. But preparation and verification may turn it into a 4-hour exam.

Additionally, the exam has an optional essay section, though it is not required by all universities.

Scoring System

The SAT exam is measured on a scale of 400 to 1600, which contains combined results from the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section and Mathematics. Each of the sections is scored between 200 and 800.
